Fire News: Fires in the OC – Red Flag Warnings Up through Tuesday with High Winds
Orange County as well as all of Southern California is under a RED FLAG ALERT with potential high winds in excess of 50 mph through Tuesday.
The Orange County Register is doing a fairly decent job of reporting on the OC fires in the Newport Beach area off Bonita Canyon. The fire was reported about at 3:20 PM and burnt 50 acres. Over 300 people needed to be evacuated for a short time.
It appears to be arson. KCBS has video here.
The property where the fire started is property of the City of Irvine, who had refused to clear the brush despite the property owners repeated requests to clear the area. Fire Officials had to site the City of Irvine to get any cooperation. Doesn’t the City of Irvine remember all the wildfires in OC last year and the cost to property owners? Or are they playing clueless in SoCal again? Duh!
