Fire News: Welcome to Fire Season – Marek Fire Expands – One Found Dead

1:15 PM Welcome to Fire Season in LA.

Red flag warnings are in full effect both in the City of LA and the County. All hillside parking in the hills of LA are subject to ticketing and towing, so if you’re in on of those areas and could be blocking a fire truck– MOVE IT.

The news is reporting on all channels that the Marek Fire in the Sunland area has expanded to over 4000 acres this morning, nearly doubling overnight when the winds picked up.

37 trailers up in the Skyview Trailer Park appear to be toast when the fire went through there this morning like all hell broke loose.

UCLA-Sylmar Hospital (the old Olive View,) is transporting out all vent’ patients including newborns and ICU patients, probably to Reagan UCLA because the potential breathing problems because of the intense smoke in the area.

This also means if you have breathing problems either get well out of the fire and smoke areas, or turn on the AC and stay inside.

The news just reported a homeless man and his dog were found dead in a makeshift camp near the freeway near Foothill Blvd and Paxton.

The I-210 and 118 Freeways are shut down in the fire area. The fire has jumped the 118 Freeway. We’re seeing a lot of people exhibiting the normal LA stupidity. So people… use your brains for a change.

It also appears we have a new brush fire that started about 10 AM today up in the Porter Ranch on top of Oat Mountain in the Santa Susana mountain range. The major problem up there is that there are oil fields and methane wells in the area.

The origins of all the current fires are under investigation. Fire Investigators and Police are asking the public’s assistance. See anything? Got a license plate number? Call 911 and phone it in. We need help in stopping these fire bugs now.

Queen of the Mountain over on Flickr has put up a set of photos. There are others photos on Flickr as well KFI’s got some real good photos over there as well.
