Broadcast News : Photos of the KFI 640AM Tower Power Party
Rising some 685 feet above its La Mirada, CA location, KFI 640AM is now back online at a full 50,000 watts with the construction and installation of its new tower.
The 685 foot antenna features a first – a 50 foot in diameter Capacitive or Top Hat Antenna. This allows the station to maintain its legal and effective radiated wattage as LA’s only 
50,000 watt "clear channel" radio station.
Dr. Doug and I were the invited guests to this private "Flip the Switch Tower Party" which featured a large number of radio people including a group of Broadcast Engineers and folks from the old CIS Broadcast Pros Forum. A personal thanks to Neil.
Congradulations to KFI, Capstar, ClearChannel and Seacomm who constructed the tower in 15 days and the Broadcast Engineers who brought it online as quickly as they did. Well done!
