Hello Mary Lu

It’s with a real sense of loss that I regret to inform all of you that I was notified that Michael Hollander, one of the founding Wizops of the CompuServe Forums, the man who invented online reporting of racing, and the owner of Motor Sports Forums, Wizop of  www.motorsports.com group passed away last night.

Mike had been diagnosed with mesothelioma about a year ago and had put up quite a battle. He passed at home surrounded by his loving family and his tech toys.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 26, at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 W. Centinella Ave., Los Angeles, 90045 (right off the 405 just south of the Marina Freeway.) For directions and a map click here.

—- Editorial Addition Sept 26, 2008: Couple things… which we learned at the funeral that it was Mike’s wish that in place of flowers,  AARWBA, the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association www.aarwba.org  has established The Michael Hollander Scholarship for Racing and Online Journalism, which will be given annually. Donations can be sent to AARWBA, 922 No. Pass Ave., Burbank, CA 91505-2703.
